The Abilene Christian Wildcats football program is the intercollegiate American football team for the Abilene Christian University located in the U.S. state of Texas. The team are members of the Southland Conference. The school's first football team was fielded in 1919. The team played its home games at the 15,075 seat Shotwell Stadium through the 2016 season; the team will open the new on-campus Wildcat Stadium on September 16, 2017. Adam Dorrel is the head coach. For the 2013 season, Abilene Christian competed as an Independent in the NCAA Division I FCS.
